Brices Creek  Located southwest of New Bern, and just across the Trent River, you’ll find several new subdivisions, including Lake Clermont, Hunters Ridge, Oakview, Deer Run, and River Trace. The mature trees and foliage offer a country blend, while just a few short minutes to downtown New Bern. Price range from about $175,000 to over $950,000, depending upon age and location to the creeks and river.

Ghent District:
Ghent District  From small bungalows to larger homes, Ghent is the newest New Bern historic district. Homes date from the early teens to the mid 1940’s, and have quite a charming character and style of their own! Many younger families have moved into this area, with lots of energy for remodeling and restoration. This area is located between the US 17S corridor, with close proximity to shopping chains/restaurants and the mall, and is bordered by the downtown Historic District. The new, active YMCA is also located here. Prices in the Ghent area starting around $150,000, and move upwards for larger, remodeled homes.

Greenbrier:
Serenity, 1999 - all rights reserved - L. Anderson Dunn   A premier golf course community in the city limits of New Bern, this Weyerhaeuser development boasts a Rees Jones designed championship course which is home to the annual Curtis Strange Shriner Classic. The location of this community is central to shopping, the US 17 corridor and US 70. A spectacular new medical complex is located across the road in McCarthy Square, which also houses the new surgical center of the Craven Regional Hospital. Early development of the community began in 1988, and now has over 550 homes, ranging in price from $180's for patio homes, and $250,000 to over $600,000+ for custom single family homes. On any given day, the centrally located Emerald clubhouse keeps residents busy with bridge games or "after golf chat" ! With lovely mature trees and lakes, Greenbrier is home for many retirees who have chosen New Bern as their "Southern Surprise" !

Fairfield Harbour:
Fairfield Harbour  This gated community of approximately 3,000 acres started as time-shares, several years ago. Fairfield Harbour is located about 20 minutes from downtown New Bern off Hwy 55 across the Neuse River. It is now home to many northern retirees, with two golf courses, a clubhouse, tennis, store, and three marinas. The canal system, which runs through the community, allows homeowners to dock their boats right behind their home. Although numerous homes have been built there in the price range of $200's to over $500,000 for waterfront homes, there are still some lots on the market for sale. When the new bridge over the Neuse River was completed in late September 1999, the City of New Bern and Fairfield Harbour became a very short commute. Homes have appreciated considerably during 2003-2004.

Taberna:
Taberna's Gates  Taberna is the newest and one of the most upscale yet unsnobbish golfing communities in the area. From the moment of Taberna’s creation, this private country club community of over 1,100 acres, has beautifully blended the best of olde-world charm and old-fashioned Southern hospitality. Literally translated, the name Taberna means "place of hospitality, and the quaint waterfront city of New Bern, provides the perfect backdrop. Located off US 70 just 3½ miles east of the Trent River bridge, Taberna was annexed into the city limits of New Bern.

Taberna Coat Of Arms  The Taberna Coat of Arms boasts a history of its own. The leaf in the first quadrant represents nature, as the community is surrounded by a National Forest, two creeks and protected wetlands with an abundance of wildlife. The Pineapple represents hospitality. For centuries, pineapples have adorned the entryways of eastern North Carolina homes. It symbolized a family’s embracing of travelers and friends, and was a welcomed sight at the end of a long journey.

Taberna House  The golf ball signifies Taberna’s 18-hole championship golf course and gorgeous clubhouse, with design features reminiscent of the famed Castle of Nydeg, in Bern Switzerland. Part of the land that Taberna occupies was once the site of a major battle during the Civil War. The Battle of New Bern affected both Confederate and Union strategies, and it is in honor of those who fought bravely on both sides, that the fourth quadrant of the Coat of Arms contains a Civil War era cannon.

Taberna House  Taberna offers a lifestyle for everyone! In addition to golfing, residents of this planned community can enjoy tennis, a Jr. Olympic size pool, canoeing, bike and nature trails and many social events sponsored by the homeowners or the club. Since Taberna is located in the coveted Brinson Elementary School district, the community has attracted almost as many families as it has "younger retirees". It’s where the north and the south blend in a lifestyle that is simply unsurpassed! Golf course, waterfront and wooded home sites available from the $260's to over $500,000. Patio homes from the $190's.

Trent Woods:
Trent Woods  A separate township within New Bern, this lovely residential neighborhood offers quiet winding streets, covered with mature live oaks, dogwoods and azaleas. Some of the neighborhoods within Trent Woods include Fox Hollow, a great family neighborhood with ranch styles priced from the $150's. Then there’s Country Club Hills, Bellefern, Wilson Creek and Creeks End, with many of these 3,000-4,000 sq. ft. homes priced up to $900,000. Some of the homes along the Trent River waterfront mirror "Southern hospitality" at it’s most elegant! Centrally located in Trent Woods is the New Bern Golf and Country Club, a private club recently renovated for elegant, casual or banquet dining, lovely golf course, tennis courts, pool and exercise facility. The "newcomer" to New Bern covets a personal invitation to one of their many social functions and golf tournaments. With a very limited number of acres remaining for new home construction in Trent Woods, some of the most elegant townhomes and patio homes have recently been completed there. These prices vary from the low$200's to over $1 Million, depending on street, golf course, or riverfront location.

Olde Towne:
OldeTownHarbour  Olde Towne Harbour is a prestigious neighborhood in the city of New Bern, located just east of Trent Woods. Here you'll find lovely, spacious, upscale homes on beautifully treed and manicured lots, many with private riverfront docks. For those who desire fantastic waterviews with less yard maintenance, Olde Towne offers an area of townhome-style condominiums with garages. Prices range from smaller condo's in the $250's to magnificent waterfront estates over $1 Million.

River Bend:
River Bend   River Bend is an incorporated town on the southern border of New Bern which originally started as a subdivision in 1980. The town has its own golf course, clubhouse, marina, tennis courts & convenience store. Homes include single family riverfront in the price range of $200,000 to over $500,000, canal front homes, townhomes and patio homes. Some of these have private boat slips. Some maintenance free patio homes or townhomes start in the mid $100's, but many of the single family homes prices are in the $200,000 range, making it affordable not only for retirees, but for more younger families who are calling River Bend their home.
